What colour variations are there?

Poodles have a “fading gene” their colours when a puppy can considerable change throughout their lives. This can be inherited by your new cockapoo puppy. A black pup can end up with greys and whites from as early as 2 years old. This is something to consider when choosing a colour.​

There are a few colour categories to choose from:

 

BLACK
The black cockapoo is susceptible to the “fading gene”  The degree of fade can vary, and doesn’t always happen, but can result in the black fading to grey or silver  in some or all parts of the fur.

CHOCOLATE
Chocolate, like the black are prone to the fading gene. The chocolate colours can very from dark brown to a light coffee.

APRICOT & RED
They is a wide veriety of apricots, raging from a deep red to a creamy beige. Again they can fade with age.ts older.

WHITE & BLONDE
The white and blonde cockapoos will not show much signs of colour fade, as there is no pigment to fade. They range from a blonde/white to pure white (when clean). Some can have different coloured ears.

​TUXEDO
This is a patch of adifferent coulour on their chest. This can occur in the red and black cockapoo colours.

PHANTOM
Black and tan with the Dennis Healey eyebrows.  May also have light colouring on muzzle, like in the tuxedo variety, with lighter legs and feet.  Can also get brown and tan colouration.

SABLE
Sable cockapoos are the ombres of the dog world. The tips of their hair is a different colour to the base. .  They are often born with a dark, well defines colouration, but fade as they grow older.

PARTI
50 percent white and 50 percent of another colour.

ROAN
The roan cockapoo has a base colour, with lots of white hairs, or patches of white hairs mixed in.
