What brush should I use on my Cockapoo?

It all depends on the type of fur your pup has inherited.

Some cockapoos don’t need any brushing in between grooms others will need a brush on a regular basis. It all depends on the type of fur your pup has inherited.

It is very wise to start all your normal routine things at a very young age, they will be familiar to them and will not, later in life be afraid.

A lot of cockapoo owners use a tangle teaser. They may not be suitable on their own as poo’s coats are quite thick and you may not get to the base of the fur (where the mats will develop).

A slicker brush is similar to the tangle teaser. You really do have to hold up the coat so the teeth gets to the base of the fur and brush bit by bit. Add a comb to the mix and your are pretty much sorted.

A metal toothed comb  these get to the very bottom of the the fur near the skin. Be careful not to pull to hard as if there is a knot it will hurt your pooch.

A plain old fashioned hair brush will do the trick too. A good trick is to let pup chew on an old one while he is letting you groom him.

One more tip is to do all the above on an ironing board. Put a bit of peanut butter on a plate to encourage the pup to like it.
